Chaga: The Secret To Anti-Aging Skincare

September 21, 2020

Some may not be aware of chaga mushrooms and just how beneficial they are and have been for many centuries. Having been used as a traditional medicine in Asia, Russia and other Northern European countries, chaga has been used mainly to boost immunity and overall health. And one unmistakably beneficial trait of chaga is the secret it holds to slowing the aging process.

In theory, chaga supplies the body with an abundance of antioxidants, which could slow down the aging process––better yet, even reverse visible signs of aging. More research needs to be conducted to firmly prove this, but when it comes to acknowledging all the health benefits and history of the chaga, it seems apparent just how amazing they are for our overall health, inside and out.

Understanding these physical health benefits of chaga provides great insight to all of us who use them in our regular health routine. Furthermore, finding new ways to take advantage of them more in other ways so we can reap its full beneficial potential.

Chaga Used As The Secret To Anti-Aging Skincare

Now that we have a better understanding just how beneficial these little bundles of anti-aging properties are, it’s come as no surprise that they would be incorporated into skincare products––where one of the main reasons for choosing to do a skincare routine on a regular basis is to prevent signs of aging so quickly.

As being known as the “Diamond of the Forest” in Japan and “King of Plants” in China, chaga used for skincare is a no-brainer considering their nutrient-dense properties that play as a protection from harsh surroundings. Also, chaga’s high levels of melanin, a dark-colored pigment found in our skin that protects us from harmful UV rays, plays an important skincare role for consumers and effectively reducing dark sunspots––which chaga has been proven to reduce cellular tyrosinase activity and melanin content. On top of that, chaga’s source of zinc is an essential nutrient for cell growth.

Another great note, chaga contributes deeper into the skincare world that other ingredients may never live up to. Oxidative stress is an imbalance of antioxidants and free radicals in your body, which can be harmful to your fatty tissue, DNA, and damage the proteins in your body. Damage done to these can lead to more problems like skin discoloration, the onset of wrinkles, and acne, and in worst cases, chances of certain diseases.

In a 2009 study, experts stated:

“These findings suggest that enzymatic activities convert superoxide to H(2)O(2), and non-enzymatic mechanisms are largely responsible for detoxifying H(2)O(2). Enhanced production of melanins is the most important non-enzymatic response of this fungus against oxidative stress.”

Those suffering from skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, psoriasis, allergic reactions,  eczema, dermatitis, rashes and itching, should consider using skincare with chaga as it may be beneficial for these conditions.

Chaga Skincare Use And Side Effects

Chaga is regarded as a safe product due to its natural nature; however, it’s always a good idea to consult your physician before starting new supplements and making changes to your diet. For skincare purposes, always test a small patch of skin, located near your jawline or inside of your wrist, to test the chaga skincare product you’re using simply to make sure your skin does not have a negative reaction to the other ingredients, other than the chaga, that were used to make the product.

Traditionally for ingesting chaga, a chaga mushroom was grated into a fine powder, then brewed as an herbal tea to drink. Today, you can still find chaga in tea form, but now you have more options––such as a chaga supplement in capsule form and tinctures––including combinations of chaga with other products, such as coffee, chocolate and other foods.

Conclusion

By helping to spread the secret of chaga to the skincare world, we hope it helps people find a healthy way to find some relief for their skin, which is doing some good for their body at the same time. Who doesn’t love a two-for-one deal anyway?
